Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid believes the relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift affords each star a respite from being a performer, instead allowing them to be fans of each other.
“I think it’s great for him. He can handle it,” Reid said of the attention placed on Kelce given the high-profile nature of the relationship during an appearance on the Scoop City podcast (34:08 mark).
“I think he probably loves it, to a point. I think it’s a great escape for him. I said that for Taylor too, she comes to the game and can kinda escape having to be the show.
And Travis can do that, and when he goes to her concerts she’s the star and he can be hanging out there and be the supportive water boy.”
If nothing else, the relationship has created some interesting crossover opportunities between very different audiences. The NFL surely loves having Swift’s army of fans suddenly interested in football, while Swift has a new group of sports fans suddenly far more familiar with her body of work.
It’s a win-win, unless you’re completely burnt out on hearing about Kelce and Swift at this point. Which would also be completely understandable.
