Travis Kelce might be having a rough beginning to his football season with the Kansas City Chiefs, but his Hollywood career is off to a great start. He is getting rave reviews from director Ryan Murphy on his role in the FX series, Grotesquerie, and getting major support from his beloved girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
Murphy spilled a little tea about Swift’s reaction to her boyfriend’s role, and it offered quite a bit of insight into their relationship. “The only thing that [Travis and I] talked about was that she’s very supportive of him, and if he has an interest, she wanted him to try it,” Murphy told E! News on Sept. 23. “I was thrilled about that.” The show creator also praised the athlete’s talent, noting “A star is a star is a star—and he’s a star.”
“He’s so charismatic, and he’s so smart, he’s lovely,” Murphy continued. “He had a window of time. He asked me to work up something for him. I did. It was an honor. If Travis Kelce wants to be a big movie star, he could do it. You can see in the show, that he can act. And he’s talented. The world is his oyster. He can do anything.” Wow! That’s a rave review from the prolific showrunner, and it lines up with how Swift has addressed her relationship with Kelce whether he’s on the football field or TV.
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” Swift told Time in December 2023. “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.” The 34-year-old superstar has not wavered from that stance, and neither has her boyfriend — they are all-in with their support of each other’s projects.
Now that the dynamic duo has hit their first anniversary, they are settling into a groove of what their future looks like while dealing with the hot spotlight on them as an A-list couple. “They’ve built a lot of trust. They both knew what they signed up for and navigated it well,” a source told Us Weekly. “Staying in is a luxury for them. They enjoy cooking dinner together. It’s a refreshing contrast to their [public] lives,” a second insider added.
So, it shouldn’t be surprising to anyone that Swift is cheering on all facets of her man’s career — just as he does for her. They are each other’s biggest cheerleaders in work and life.
The FX show Grotesquerie starring Niecy Nash, Courtney B. Vance and Travis Kelce debuted this week, bringing Ryan Murphy’s gruesome mystery to life. It’s Kelce’s first major acting gig as the Kansas City tight end tries out his chops in front of the camera for a recurring role.
Kelce received high praise from his costars and creator Ryan Murphy, even if his brother, Jason, is convinced he’s a bad guy in the show.
A behind-the-scenes image from filming the series has been making its rounds on social media, showing that the crew had some fun accessories on the camera for shooting.
In an Instagram story posted by Key Production Assistant DeVante Waugh (@notfrmhollywood) showed two Taylor Swift stickers, a perfect nod to Kelce’s pop-star girlfriend.
