Much has been said about the Kansas City Chiefs’ decision to bring back Kareem Hunt over the last 24 hours.

In a moment of desperation following their star rusher Isiah Pacheco’s injury, the Chiefs made the controversial decision to sign free agent Hunt to the practice squad.

Due to their depleted RB rotation with only Carson Steele and Samaje Perine healthy, the Chiefs will likely elevate Hunt to the active roster sooner rather than later.

Hunt notably started his NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs, entering the league in the same draft as Patrick Mahomes.

He had an incredible rookie season, followed by an electric second year until the footage of him assaulting a woman was made public. Following an NFL investigation and being placed on the commissioner’s exempt list, the Chiefs released Hunt.

Head coach Andy Reid, who obviously knows Hunt very well, talked to the media about the decision to sign the 29-year-old Hunt.

Reid revealed that they did their due diligence, talked to people, and didn’t find any issues of concern about Hunt. Highlighting the fact that Hunt has grown up after getting a change of scenery and some help, Reid said he was fine with bringing him back to Kansas City.

Patrick Mahomes said similar things about Hunt in his statements earlier on Wednesday.

Hunt spent the past five seasons with the Browns. Even though he was never able to repeat the early successes of his career, he was able to get his career back on track and have a productive stint in Cleveland. He will get a chance to demonstrate he still has some fuel in the tank in Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s absence.
