Angel Reese revives old Brianna Turner tweet to say something about fans that she can’t

The fanfare that comes with being a WNBA star might just be taking its toll on Angel Reese after beginning her journey as a professional women’s basketball player.  The 21-year-old was the No.7 pick in the first round of the WNBA Draft and a mooted move to the Milwaukee Mystics didn’t materialize, with the LSU alum deciding to take her talents to the Windy City after signing a one-year contract.

But her new-found fame, which seems to have skyrocketed even from her days playing for LSU in college, has led Reese to issue a coded warning to her fans through her team-mate Brianna Turner.

Back in 2021, Turner wrote on X: “Fans shouldn’t be able to hang out in our hotel lobby all morning/ night to wait for us to sign things. Also fans waiting at baggage claim/ check-in at airports that don’t even have flights. Ofc [of course] I appreciate people that support the W, but sometimes I feel like a line is crossed.”

Reaching into the archives to repost her tweet, Turner added: “Still relevant years later. I’m not speaking on children, but if it’s adults, especially resellers of trading cards/ pictures/ etc just come to a game instead to get your memorabilia signed.”

And Reese clearly had been thinking the same thing as she quote-tweeted Turner with a ringing endorsement of her teammate’s opinion.  “One thing I count on is for Breezy to say the things I want to say that I can’t say WWWWWW TEAMMATE!,” Reese wrote on X, with a crying face and pink heart emoji to show her affection.

Angel Reese enjoying WNBA life on court

While the attention she has received from fans may be overwhelming, it appears Reese is at least enjoying a decent start to her WNBA career on the court.  The first-round pick scored 13 points and notched nine rebounds in 24 minutes of action during their preseason defeat to the Minnesota Lynx on Friday.

The Sky didn’t take the lead once during the game and eventually succumbed to a 92-81 defeat, but Reese’s performance wouldn’t have gone unnoticed by her coach Teresa Weatherspoon.  Reese will hope to get more minutes under her belt as the Sky take on New York Liberty on May 8 in their next preseason fixture.
