Back in October, the Chicago Sky officially named WNBA Hall of Famer Teresa Weatherspoon the next head coach of the franchise.
Earlier this April, over six months later, the Sky landed two of college basketball’s best players in the first round of the WNBA Draft. Chicago selected South Carolina standout center Kamilla Cardoso at No. 3 overall, and just a few picks later, drafted LSU star Angel Reese at No. 7.
On Sunday, following day one of training camp with the Sky, Reese was asked to share a few words about her new head coach.
“How was it with [Coach Teresa] Spoon?” she was asked, via the Chicago State of Mind Sports YouTube page. “I mean, I heard the intensity when we closed up.”
“She’s super intense,” Reese replied. “I mean, I love a coach that’s fiery. Bring the energy every day. You know what you’re going to get from her.”
Reese, a national champion during her time at LSU, finished her college career having averaged 18.6 points, 12.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Her defensive efforts showed up in the stat sheet as well – she averaged over a block and steal per game across her four years in college.
