Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles has revealed the advice Jay-Z gave her after she appeared to like an Instagram post about the rape accusations against him.
Tina, 70, claimed her Instagram account had been hacked after she appeared to like a post reporting that son-in-law Jay-Z was accused of gang-raping a 13 year-old girl with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. She later claimed she’d been hacked.
Speaking on Vogue’s The Run-Through podcast, Tina admitted she finds it hard to ignore negative stories about her family and likes to fight back. But she often uses voice-to-text, which tends to misunderstand her southern accent and prompted some advice from the rapper.
‘My son-in-law, Jay will say, “Listen, if you’re gonna read somebody, at least spell your words right. Don’t misspell your words, Ma. You can’t do that. Take your time and go over and spellcheck your stuff!”‘ Tina shared.
However, Tina replied with, ‘I don’t have time for that.’
Tina also shared that Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s oldest daughter Blue Ivy has offered her own advice.
‘Every once in a while, I’ll get a call from Blue, and she’ll say, “Grandma, that’s really whack what you just did. That’s really whack. You should delete that.”‘ Tina said.
‘I’m like, “Girl, I’m on to the next thing.” And all of the comments are like, “There you go again, Miss Tina.”‘
Tina told Vogue that sometimes she likes negative stories about her family on social media by mistake.
‘Because if I’m busy and I’m going through the thing, I’m like, “Oh, there’s Beyoncé with so and so.” I like that. And then the fans come back and say, “Miss Tina, please erase that because you’re liking some negative post.”‘
After her account liked the negative story about Jay-Z, however, Tina wrote: ‘I was Hacked! As you all know I do not play about my family. So if you see something uncharacteristic of me just know it is not me.’
Tina added in the caption, ‘Please stop playing with me!!!! “No weapon formed against my family shall prosper.”‘
The post liked by her account was shared via @abc7Chicago and was captioned: ‘Breaking news: Jay-Z, Diddy named in lawsuit alleging rape of girl, 13.’
Jay-Z has denied the attack the victim claims took place at a VMA’s afterparty in September 2000, while an unidentified female celebrity watched.
Tina accompanied the superstar couple and Blue Ivy for her granddaughter’s appearance at the premiere of Mufasa.
The family was smiling and appeared to be in the holiday spirit after the 99 Problems rapper issued a scorching denial to the claims.
Jay-Z, 55, issued a blistering response to the lawsuit via DailyMail.com, accusing the victim of attempting to ‘blackmail’ him.
The rapper claimed he feared that his three children with Beyoncé would have to ‘endure’ harassment in the wake of the allegations.
Jay-Z said he is especially worried about Blue Ivy. He is afraid she will face questions from her friends about the lawsuit. The couple also share twins Rumi and Sir, seven.
‘My only heartbreak is for my family,’ Jay-Z said.
