Travis Kelce is set to follow Taylor Swift in endorsing Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States, according to a source who spoke to DailyMail.com.
After Swift confirmed on Tuesday night that she is voting for Harris over Donald Trump in this year’s Presidential election, Kelce is poised to announce that he will be doing the same come November.
An insider claimed the Kansas City Chiefs superstar is proud of his girlfriend for throwing her support behind Harris and ‘understood the assignment’ after she did so.
‘Travis will definitely be endorsing Kamala and will be doing it very soon – perhaps within the next day or so,’ a source close to Kelce told DailyMail.com. ‘After Taylor revealed her endorsement for Kamala, Travis knew what he had to do. He understood the assignment.
‘He was very proud of Taylor for finally speaking out and he supports her in everything she does, this will be no different. They share the same beliefs and ideals and goals, and this is one of them.
Together they both know that they can make a greater impact on fans and voters than either one of them alone.’
DailyMail.com has reached out the Kelce’s representatives for comment.
Swift’s support for Harris is no surprise given she has previously aligned herself with the Democrats and taken a number of shots at Republican leader Trump in the past.
The songstress wrote on Twitter (now X) ahead of the 2020 election, which Trump lost to Joe Biden: ‘After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? ‘When the looting starts the shooting starts’???
‘We will vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrump’.
Kelce, meanwhile, has never publicly declared an affiliation with any political party.
However, back in April many suggested the NFL legend indicated that he is a Trump supporter after liking a photo of him at a UFC event.
Kelce caused consternation among Swift’s fans last week when it emerged he liked the photo of the former President and ex-ESPN anchor Sage Steele meeting at UFC 299 in Miami in March.
Trump then fueled further speculation about his political leanings by sharing a picture of Kelce’s like on his own platform, Truth Social.
Alongside the picture, the post added: ‘Travis Kelce, NFL star tight end and boyfriend of Taylor Swift, is causing controversy after liking a post of ESPN former reporter Sage Steele and Donald Trump at a UFC event.
‘I think everyone, even celebrities, are finally waking up and supporting the MAGA movement. Have liberals finally gone so far left that everyone is leaving?’
After visiting Joe Biden at the White House in May to celebrate the Chiefs’ second straight Super Bowl win, Kelce also suggested he would also do so if Trump was in power by saying on his New Heights podcast: ‘Any time I get a chance to be recognized by the President of the United States and get to go with my teammates and a group of men and women who I had success with to the point we get acknowledged… I’m doing it every time no matter who’s up there at the helm.
‘No matter what’s going on in this world. It’s just such a cool opportunity.’
Travis and Taylor’s support for Harris comes a few weeks after Brittany Mahomes sparked controversy by liking one of Trump’s posts on Instagram outlining his proposed policies for if he takes back control of the White House.
Brittany, the wife of Kelce’s Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes, angered Taylor’s die-hard legion of ‘Swiftie’ fans given their beloved singer has publicly condemned the Republican leader ahead of previous elections.
Swift and Mahomes developed a close friendship last season as their partners led the Chiefs all the way to the Super Bowl once more. They were regularly seen sitting together at games and hanging out off the field, too.
But the singer’s post is the latest chapter in her and Brittany being on opposite sides of the American political spectrum. A source exclusively told DailyMail.com that they ‘respect that they have different views’ and have made a ‘pact’ to avoid discussing politics last month.
