George Clooney Looks Weary in NYC Outing With Amal Amid Parenting Struggles
George Clooney and his wife, Amal, were spotted holding hands on a night out in New York City on Thursday.
While the two-time Oscar winner led the way through the bustling streets of Manhattan, he appeared serious and noticeably weary, in contrast to his typically charismatic demeanor. Meanwhile, Amal, 47, looked radiant, flashing a big smile as the couple strolled together, accompanied by a close aide.
The internationally renowned human rights lawyer exuded her signature glamour in black pants, matching stiletto boots, and a long gray turtleneck sweater. She completed the chic look with a gray overcoat, a stylish black purse, and her dark brown tresses cascading past her shoulders in soft waves.
Clooney, 63, opted for a more casual-cool ensemble, wearing dark blue slacks, a matching coat over a black zip-up sweater, and light blue slip-on shoes. Adding a touch of classic Hollywood charm, the Gravity star topped off his look with a black, white, and gray plaid fedora over his salt-and-pepper hair.
Parenting Struggles With Twins
Their night out in NYC comes as Clooney recently opened up about some of the challenges they’ve faced raising their seven-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella.
In the past, he has humorously expressed concern that his children are becoming “too British” due to their exposure to English slang and culture. During a 2020 interview with Stephen Colbert, he joked about his attempts to steer them away from British terms like “jumper” and “pavement” in favor of the American equivalents, sweater and sidewalk.
The twins have also embraced British holiday traditions, with Alexander insisting that Santa Claus prefers “milk and a mince pie.”
Adding to the parenting challenges, the children have already learned to speak French and Italian—languages Clooney himself doesn’t understand. During a 2023 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the actor playfully admitted to being “not very smart,” sharing how his kids call him out when he tries to fake phrases in those languages.
Busy Schedule & Broadway Return
Their NYC outing also coincides with Clooney’s promotional tour for Good Night, and Good Luck, his Broadway play based on the 2005 film he starred in, co-wrote, and directed. The Ocean’s Eleven star recently appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to discuss the production, along with politics and his storied Hollywood career.
A Decade of Marriage & Family Life
George and Amal Clooney tied the knot on September 27, 2014, in a lavish ceremony officiated by their friend, former Rome mayor Walter Veltroni, at Ca’ Farsetti in Venice, Italy.
Less than three years later, in June 2017, the couple welcomed their twins, Ella and Alexander, expanding their high-profile family.
Now, nearly a decade into their marriage, the Clooneys continue to balance their glamorous public lives with the joys—and challenges—of raising their young children.
