Here’s How Travis Kelce Reacted to a Taylor Swift Sign at The Chiefs-Eagles Game

Taylor Swift may not have been present at Travis Kelce’s latest Chiefs game, but one fan made sure that she was there in spirit.  In a video shared by ESPN on TikTok Monday night (Nov. 20), Kelce waves at fans in plastic ponchos braving the rain at Arrowhead Stadium. One Kansas City supporter holds a sign that reads, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs,” seemingly earning an extra smile from the tight end.

The sign was a nod to Swift’s recent viral lyric change at an Eras Tour show in Argentina, which her football star boyfriend attended. Kelce was spotted at the Buenos Aires concert blushing and covering his face in response to the 12-time Grammy winner altering her finale song “Karma” to give him a special shoutout, the lyrics of which the fan at Monday’s game transcribed in red and yellow paint on a poster.

Although Swift has become a frequent guest at Kelce’s games in recent weeks, she was notably absent from Monday’s Chiefs-Eagles showdown. And in line with statistics that suggest the 34-year-old athlete plays better when the “Anti-Hero” singer is in the crowd, the Chiefs lost 21-17 with Swift thousands of miles away in Rio de Janeiro for a concert.

The 33-year-old pop star actually wasn’t originally slated to play in Brazil on Monday, but ended up using the open night as a make-up date for a show that had been scheduled for Saturday before extreme temperatures in Rio forced her to postpone. The delay also came after the death of Ana Clara Benevides Machado, a 23-year-old fan who passed away after attending Swift’s Friday show. The concert’s organizer, T4F, wrote on Instagram that paramedics had attended to Machado before she was taken to a first-aid area and then to a hospital, where she died shortly after.

“I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this,” Swift later said in a statement. “There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.”  Kelce recently opened up about his admiration for Swift’s Eras Tour in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, in which he also revealed how he and the musician first started talking. “I had somebody playing Cupid,” he told the publication. “She told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get her to reach out.”
