Iga Swiatek resonates with Serena Williams! The current Queen of Tennis bows down to her predecessor! Just like Coco Gauff, Swiatek worships at the altar of Serena.
Interestingly, while the Polish sensation has won 4 out of her 5 Grand Slams on clay, the 5th is the U.S. Open. For the retired WTA player, while hard courts were her best surface, clay was her other favorite to play. But where does Williams’ current protege fit into all this?

Swiatek’s recent take on the 23-time Grand Slam champion might give her brownie points for admiring the American more than the 20-year-old tennis player. Ahead of Wimbledon, Swiatek took part in a promotional video for the event in which she chose the perfect player to participate in the upcoming Grand Slam event. While she was excitedly picking up different categories such as forehead, backhand, and best mentality, Serena Williams came on her screen. Before settling on the perfect criteria for her, Swiatek just yelled her admiration.
She blurted out, “Oh, Serena, Oh my God, everything!” While the Polish tennis player has a lot of idols to look up to when it comes to her game, looking into her excitement in the recent videos she might give a tough competition to the former US Open champion in fangirling over Serena Williams.
Inspired by Rafael Nadal’s work ethic and humble nature, the 23-year-old tennis star mentioned a few months ago that she sees him as her idol. She also expressed her respect for Steffi Graf, citing her adoration for the German tennis legend’s game. Swiatek praised the Williams sisters’ accomplishments and effects, acknowledging their significant influence on the sport.
She stated, “Rafael Nadal was my idol from a very young age and inspired me to work hard and stay humble. Steffi Graf for her pursuit of excellence and intense presence on court. Serena and Venus Williams for shaping our game in the way we [play] it today and changing it on so many levels.”
However, when it comes to the 20-year-old tennis player, Coco Gauff has followed Serena Williams since she was a young girl.
Coco Gauff used to have a picture of Serena Williams on her wall
For as long as she can remember, Coco Gauff has drawn inspiration from the remarkable career of Serena Williams. Nevertheless, Gauff hopes to eclipse even her idol’s long list of sporting achievements. Gauff declared her goals at the tender age of 15, putting a Serena poster in her bedroom and said, “I want to be the best ever. I want to be better than Serena, and I want to have that Grand Slam record.”
Nonetheless, Gauff is committed to creating her own tennis career and personality, hoping to leave a different legacy than her renowned forerunner. “I want to be the best version of myself. Watching Serena I was like, There’s no-one going to be greater than her. I definitely want to at least get to double digits in Slams. I just want to be the best me, try to win as many Slams as possible, and see where life takes me,” she told Daily Mail.
