Jason Kelce can hardly comprehend the level of fame he and his wife, Kylie, are experiencing at the hands of Swifties — let alone that of his brother, Travis Kelce, and his ultrafamous girlfriend, Taylor Swift. During a Friday interview on Andrew Santino’s Whiskey Ginger podcast, the former Eagles player admitted that adjusting to fame has been tough on his wife and family.
“It’s been crazy, [and] then Travis and Taylor have taken it to another level, and that’s a whole other side of it,” the 36-year-old said on the podcast. “Like, Kylie and I think we have it bad, and then we go hang out with one of them for a second. This is a whole other situation here, [and] I don’t even know how to, like … you can’t be a normal person at that point.”
Of course, Jason had experienced some notoriety playing in the NFL, but things changed drastically for he and Kylie (who got married in 2018) when Travis began dating Swift — even more so after the pop star made her famous appearance on the occasion of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win. Though Jason said Kylie has loved going to more “charitable outings,” participating in girls’ field-hockey clinics and giving back to her community, she’s been “more hesitant” to accept that her children can be recognized by complete strangers: something she has told her husband she “didn’t really sign up” for.
“She should be [more famous than me], no doubt,” Jason said, joking lovingly of the mother of their three daughters. “I’m like, ‘We’re going to be all right, [and] we’re getting through it.’ It gets to be too much at times, and it’s hard to always be available, but I think, more often than not, it’s awesome whenever you’re doing that stuff and the vast majority of people are beyond just respectful and appreciative.”
But don’t worry, Swifties. Jason acknowledges he and his family are in a “position of great fortune” due to some “really, really big fans.” I think that means “thank you” in Kelce speak.
