Patrick Mahomes gets candid about what people say about his raspy voice: “I don’t care at all”

WWE superstar Logan Paul had NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes as a guest on his Impaulsive podcast following their unexpected encounter on Monday Night Raw.  During the episode, Mahomes, who sounded a bit raspy, explained, “I just got here from Vegas. We had a great charity golf tournament. I don’t know if anyone here knows, I like to drink Coors Light and I drink too many.” This might not have been the best timing for a drinking joke, considering his dad is currently facing serious legal issues, but let’s move on.

Mahomes went on to address the unique quality of his voice, saying, “And you know my voice already isn’t the top tier voice, and so when you get a little raspy, [you] sound like an old country singer or something like that. It’s not going to help with the Kenny Powers impersonations.” Logan Paul couldn’t help but join in, saying, “I didn’t want to say it! I didn’t want to say it! Does it bother you? Or do you just think it’s funny?” To which Mahomes replied, “It bothered me a little when I was young and then like, I got older and I was like, man, I don’t care at all.”

Raspy voice, ketchup addiction, and life beyond football

Surprisingly, Mahomes revealed that his raspy voice has been a thing since he was young, saying, “It was already a thing and so when people came to social media and started saying it, I was like, ‘dude, I’ve heard about this since I was six-years-old.'”

The conversation took an unexpected turn when Mahomes opened up about his unusual addiction to ketchup. “Ever since I’ve been a little kid, man, I loved it,” he explained. “I would say I don’t put it on just everything anymore. Like, when I was young, dude, it was like ketchup sandwiches.”

Mahomes also touched on the intense atmosphere during their game in Buffalo last season, saying, “This year, definitely, was the more villain-type role for I think the whole team. I don’t think I really realized it, I heard people talking and obviously social media, there’s people always talking so I didn’t know how real it was until I got to Buffalo this year.”
