Patrick Mahomes’ mom Randi has given her seal of approval to daughter-in-law Brittany’s stunning photoshoot for Sports Illustrated. Just days before Patrick plays in his fourth Super Bowl, Brittany, 28, posed on a beach in San Pedro, Belize for SI Swimsuit’s 60th anniversary issue, which the publication released on Thursday.
The Kansas City Chiefs WAG, whose fame has increased even further in recent months amid her new friendship with Travis Kelce’s girlfriend Taylor Swift, received widespread praise for the photoshoot from a host of high-profile names online. And one of them was none other than mother-in-law Randi Mahomes.
‘Holy moly that rocks!!!’ Randi wrote on Instagram. ‘Go girl’.
Brittany’s romance with Patrick dates all the way back to their high school days, before the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback slowly emerged from the self-confessed ‘friend zone’ and took their relationship to the next level. They eventually wed in 2020 and now have two kids together.
Randi was not the only one to hype up Brittany over her shoot in Belize, with LSU gymnastics sensation and fellow SI model Olivia Dunne commenting love struck and hands-in-air emojis. MLB star Freddie Freeman’s wife Chelsea also wrote: ‘WHAT?!!!!’ along with a host of fire emojis. Even rival WAG and fashion designer Kristin Juszczyk, who recently designed a jacket for Brittany, showed her appreciation ahead of 49ers-star husband Kyle’s battle with Patrick on Sunday.
‘Are you kidding me!?!’ she wrote. ‘Love watching you shine!!’ Brittany also shared a video of her posing on a beach in San Pedro, with SI describing her as ‘unapologetically herself’ ahead of joining as a 2024 rookie for their May edition. ‘I’m truly just so humbled and still in disbelief,’ Mahomes told the publication. ‘As a girl from Tyler, Texas, who only really knew sports, never in a million years did I think I’d be in the SI Swimsuit Issue. I’m just so grateful for this opportunity.’
As well as being Patrick’s wife and Taylor’s bestie, Brittany is also well known for her work in soccer. She is a former player through her time at the University of Texas at Tyler and also spent time with a team in Iceland in 2017. She retired in 2017 and started her own workout brand, but she is also a part-owner and founder of the women’s NWSL team Kansas City Current – which Patrick also owns a stake in.
The team are opening their own purpose-build women’s soccer stadium in March, a landmark moment. ‘These women deserve to feel important and have their own facility so that they can perform at their best,’ Mahomes said. ‘I hope this sets the bar for women’s sports everywhere and other cities continue to build around women’s sports. Just like young boys get to dream of playing football at stadiums like Arrowhead, I want young girls everywhere to aspire to play at stadiums like CPKC.’
