Prince Harry’s blistering eight-word remark after Meghan Markle wasn’t invited to Balmoral

King Charles and Prince Harry

When Prince Harry learned of his beloved grandmother Queen Elizabeth’s death, he was on his way to be by her side.

The late Queen died in Balmoral Estate in Scotland and while Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were in the UK, they were not present when the monarch died mid-afternoon on September 8, 2022.

Harry revealed in his tell-all memoir Spare that it was his wife Meghan who broke the news to him. He was on a flight to Aberdeen after hearing his grandmother’s health had deteriorated but he was too late to see her once last time.

When he contacted his father King Charles for the couple to make arrangements to see the Queen, Charles declined and said it might be best for Meghan to not arrive at Balmoral.

Harry claims he had a scathing response to his father, the then-Prince of Wales, when he learned of this news.

With Harry likely wanting to have Meghan with him for support, Harry claimed that he told his father in a blistering eight-word response: “Don’t ever speak about my life that way”.

The late Queen died at Balmoral, which has often been described as her “happy place”.

The time of her death was recorded on her death certificate as 3.10pm – with Harry only arriving at Aberdeen Airport at 6.64pm.

As Harry was still travelling, after hearing that her health was declining, Harry claimed that he only heard that she had passed while on the flight from London.
