The Kansas City Chiefs have suffered their first major injury of the preseason, but the 18-year-old daughter of team owner Clark Hunt is fortunately on the mend after emergency surgery.

Ava Hunt, the youngest daughter of Chiefs owner Clark and his beauty-queen wife Tavia, suffered a serious wound after falling on a mountain hike this week. As a result, she has since undergone a successful surgery.

‘This little thang fell down the mountain today on a hike [and] went to the ER for surgery on a deep wound,’ Tavia revealed on Instagram alongside a smiling picture of herself and Ava. ‘It’s been a looong day. Praise God she’s in recovery and already smiling. Please pray for a quick [and] complete recovery!’

The SMU cheerleader is already putting a happy face on the painful situation.

After getting released from the hospital, she enjoyed couch surfing in front of some Simone Biles highlights from the ongoing Paris Olympics.

Update: surgery went very smoothly and I’m back at home watching my favorite @simonebiles!!’ she wrote on Instagram.

The accompanying picture shows Biles’ balance-beam routine on a television in the background hovering above Ava’s wrapped and elevated leg.

‘I’m feelings great (but I might still be a little drugged up),’ she continued. ‘Thank you for all of your sweet messages and prayers.’

It’s unclear if the injury will impact her status on SMU’s cheerleading squad. She is currently listed as a team member on the group’s Instagram page.

Ava is the youngest child of 59-year-old Clark and 53-year-old Tavia. Her older sister, Gracie, followed in their mother’s footsteps by becoming Miss Kansas in 2021.

Clark is the grandson of oil tycoon H.L. Hunt and son of Lamar, a Pro Football Hall of Famer who helped launch the old AFL. It’s Lamar’s name that graces the AFC championship trophy to this day.

And like Ava, both Clark and Lamar attended SMU in Dallas.

Owner of the two-time defending Super Bowl-champion Kansas City Chiefs, Clark is worth an estimated $1.4 billion, while the family has $24.8 billion in total wealth, according to Forbes.

The Hunt group, the family’s company, also overseas MLS’ FC Dallas.
