Joe Alwyn Channels Travis Kelce’s Super Bowl Look at the Oscars—But Was It a Subtle Dig?
Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, might have more in common with Travis Kelce than we thought. The actor arrived at the 2025 Oscars wearing a fashion accessory strikingly similar to one Kelce sported at this year’s Super Bowl.
On Sunday night, Alwyn walked the Oscars red carpet in a sharp black tuxedo and bowtie, finishing the look with a sparkling brooch pinned to his lapel. The brooch, shaped like a flower, featured a ruby-colored center stone surrounded by light purple and orange gems encrusted in diamonds.
A Fashion Statement—or Something More?
Alwyn, who dated Swift for six years before their 2023 split, has remained relatively private since their breakup. However, his choice of accessory raised eyebrows—especially because Travis Kelce wore a similar piece at the Super Bowl just weeks earlier.
Kelce, Swift’s current boyfriend, made headlines when he arrived at Caesars Superdome in a burnt-orange suit ahead of his team, the Kansas City Chiefs’, face-off against the Philadelphia Eagles. His look was completed with a bold gold rose-shaped brooch, making a flashy statement.
Alwyn’s brooch, though less extravagant, bore a striking resemblance in style and color tones. Underneath his tuxedo, he wore an auburn-colored, sparkling two-piece set, slicked back his hair, and topped it off with orange-tinted aviators—a color palette reminiscent of Kelce’s Super Bowl outfit.
A New Trend in Men’s Fashion?
Whether intentional or not, both Alwyn and Kelce might be starting a trend in men’s red carpet fashion. Several stars followed suit at the Oscars, including actor Kit Connor, who accessorized his black suit with a bedazzled silver brooch.
Alwyn’s presence at the Academy Awards comes nearly two years after his breakup with Swift. The actor, known for his low-key public persona, was at the event to present an award.
Alwyn Breaks His Silence on Swift Relationship
Earlier this year, while promoting his upcoming film The Brutalist, Alwyn made a rare comment about his relationship with Swift. Speaking to The Guardian, he addressed concerns that dating the global superstar had overshadowed his acting career.
“I have tried just to focus on controlling what I can control,” he said. “Right from the beginning, I tried to focus on the things that are meaningful for me: friends, family, work, of course.”
He acknowledged the media attention but insisted he didn’t let it define him.
“If you let all of that other stuff in, and if it starts to affect you and your behavior, you’re living from the outside in. And then you’re pretty f–ked,” he added bluntly.
A Swift Legacy in His Career?
Despite their efforts to keep their relationship private, Swift’s fans—known as Swifties—have long speculated that songs like Gorgeous from Reputation (2017) and London Boy from Lover (2019) were inspired by Alwyn.
His influence on Swift’s music became even clearer when it was revealed he had writing credits under the pseudonym William Bowery on her 2020 albums Folklore and Evermore, the latter winning Album of the Year at the Grammys.
Now, nearly two years post-breakup, Alwyn insists he’s moved forward.
“I have great family and friends and real things in my life; those are the things that kept me tethered to the ground,” he shared.
