Travis Hunter’s fiancée, Leanna Lenee, addressed the criticism she’s received from “bird-brained individuals” over the past few weeks.
In a TikTok video Monday, Lenee explained some of the viral moments that have surfaced amid her relationship with the 21-year-old Heisman Trophy winner.
“OK, I’m going to be addressing all this stuff online because I’m tired emotionally and mentally of seeing people try to make me out to be a person that I am not,” she began in the nearly 8-minute clip.
Lenee started by addressing her and Hunter’s 2020 YouTube video, in which she shared that she initially ignored his DMs because he wasn’t her type.
“I did not mean attractiveness. I don’t have a physical type, period. No two men that I previously dated look the same,” she explained.
“I have never dated the same type, physically. I don’t care about what people look like or what they can give me. I think people for who they are as a person, how they honor God and how they treat the people around them,” Lenee added.
The Kennesaw State University graduate explained the Colorado Buffaloes star player was not her type because he was younger and had “cheated on his girlfriend.”
Lenee also explained a viral video of her seeming upset that she had to wait while Hunter took pictures with fans during an Adidas event.
“I wasn’t annoyed with no fans at all. I never annoyed with fans,” she explained.
“I was asking, I was like, ‘Do you want me just to sit here? Do you want me to go back to the hotel?’ If you want me to wait for our family — because our fam, his family, was in there shopping.”
“Like I said, the things that I see people make up is truly crazy because it’s not what happened. And I just think people are just finding every single little thing and trying to make it something it’s not. And then bird-brain individuals are just accepting what they see online.”
Lenee also spoke about the backlash she received during the Heisman trophy ceremony.
A viral clip showed Lenee standing up after Hunter’s coach, Deion Sanders, nudged her on the back when the football player was named the winner.
“This is making me so mad because anyone who knows me knows I support Travis in everything he does because I truly, truly love that man. He is perfect in my eyes,” she said.
Lenne said she didn’t immediately stand up because Hunter’s mom didn’t.
“No one told me to stand up. No one had to tell me to celebrate with him. I was just sitting there crying. I wanted to take it in myself too,” she shared.
“I was super excited for him, but I wanted the moment to be about him and his family.”
On Sunday, the wide receiver defended his fiancée against criticism from fans and revealed that she cried herself to sleep after getting drunk due to the backlash.
“You ain’t never had no girl, so why are y’all talking about me?” he said during a Twitch livestream.
“Find something else to talk about … Go talk about your girl. Go find a girl. Go find a life. Stop worrying about what I got going on. I know what I got.”
Hunter and Lenee went Instagram-official in March 2022 when they shared snaps from their Hawaiian vacation.
The college football star proposed to Lenee in February.
